Here at Collaborative OT Solutions, we love to utilize a holiday for learning and exploring! Sensory bins can help children learn, explore, and regulate themselves through tactile play with different textures. Sensory exploration through sensory bins can help participation and learning of many important life skills. Here is a fun sensory bin that can be made at home for Valentine’s Day!
MATERIALS:
- WHITE OR CLEAR BIN
- WATER
- PINK FOOD COLORING
- RED OR PINK GLITTER
- RED AND PINK FELT
- SCISSORS
- HEART SHAPED BEADS
- HEART SHAPED COOKIE CUTTERS
- RED OR PINK PLASTIC SPOONS
INSTRUCTIONS:
Fill the bin halfway with water and add five drops of pink food coloring (depending on size of bin or add to achieve the color desired) to form a pink water filled bin! Then, add glitter to the desired level of sparkle! ☺ Cut out different sized felt hearts (at least 5 or 6) and add them into the water. Lastly, add as many beads and cookie cutters as desired into the bin. Have spoons available in the bin for scooping and exploring the mixture. Enjoy!
